Forget the ICC, Get on your knees

It had to be the ICC, Yes.

And for those who know me well, I know you will be probably wondering

how come doing an article about politics.

You see, I hate politics. I never find anything good in them whatsoever.

My best friend can confirm that in my hate list, politics comes third after Arsenal and Barcelona. What do you expect from a red devil anyway. 

  

Back to my point, the ICC.

Most of us were glued to our screens for the better part of the day. Following every single word in the proceedings. I did that too, despite the fact that I abhor politics. 

My friend, you see I never voted in the last general election. Don't curse me yet, I have my reasons why I didn't. Which you must have read somewhere already. Either way, I now have a president and deputy president who I adore and love so much. That has nothing to do with politics still, the reason why I hold them as said is because they are the drivers of my great nation Kenya. The land of my great great grandparents. The same nation that harbors many friends who I truly hold dear. 

I saw the face my DP was wearing during the proceedings in the ICC today. I didn't like it one bit. I mean, that is my Deputy President right there. Worse, am told they are also planning to do the same to my President! Excuse me, we are more than 40 million Kenyans, who are well experienced at throwing stones without looking at the target, but hardly miss. All the same, we vowed never to exercise that rare, 'infamous' talent we have. 

On the same note, I am one person who was not directly affected by the PEV but on the other hand, several of my relatives lost their lives and many other displaced. We all had a share of the ugly events and I know that there is no one who would want the repeat of the same. That clearly puts us as Kenyans on the crossroads when it comes to this ICC issue. 

I am not a lawyer to take sides, neither would I expect that from any Kenyan who clearly has no real and solid evidence as to what transpired in the

2007-2008 PEV. Sorry to say, but those who lost their lives are the best witnesses as far as am concerned. Our blessed country still stands and business will run as usual if we dedicate not to take the entire ICC thing far enough. 

RTA are becoming part of our normal lives and we are losing more loved ones as the expenses of even laying them to rest is escalating each single day. Things are not becoming any better amidst the confusion of where exactly we should be as a nation. The West can wait with their threats of abandoning us. The last time I checked, they didn't own us in the first place. 

It is our responsibility therefore, as a nation, to work towards ensuring that our lives and the lives of those we love run at a rate that we can keep up with. Let those slapping each other do that, those calling others name continue, but unless we maintain the peace we vowed to uphold, love the next person as we pledged, and defend our nation peacefully as we should, the we for sure will all get lost in one way or another.

As we enter this very trying moment, (ICC-which most of you take lightly) I pray that we all get down to our knees, whisper a prayer (Whispers talk VOLUMES) and pray that justice prevails, and most important, we remain united as a country. Whatever happens out of this ICC proceedings, let them not be a reason to hate your brother or sister. Kenya is far much bigger than you and me. So this day and many more to come......................................................................................

God created man in his own image, and when He looked at his creation, He was pleased. Amazing how the creator was amazed and satisfied with what He had created, and the creatures find it hard to do the same.

Have you ever wished in your life that it would have been better if you were so and so? That is a yes. Let me save you the burden to answer that question. The truth however is that the best you can be when you want to be someone else is number two. Relax, I don't mean to discourage you in any way. The same applies to those individuals who want to be you, it just can never happen!

Life provides us with a wide selection of choices from which we define our lives. The problem is that life is too generous that quite a number of choices make our lives a living nightmare by wanting to make a complete makeover of what we are and be like different people.

A gazelle may so wish to be a fish in the thought that there are no lions in the sea and ocean. This however is not any better since there are other fish predators in the waters, only that the gazelle has no idea of that.

In life therefore friends, stop coveting a different life than what you have. God has given you the best life that you can have and this comes with adjustments that you can make to becomes the best you want to be. Success is inbuilt rather than imported from external forces. If you want to make your life better, make a better you but not a better somebody else.
