Forget the ICC, Get on your knees

It had to be the ICC, Yes.
And for those who know me well, I know you will be probably wondering
how come doing an article about politics.
You see, I hate politics. I never find anything good in them whatsoever.
My best friend can confirm that in my hate list, politics comes third after Arsenal and Barcelona. What do you expect from a red devil anyway.

Back to my point, the ICC.
Most of us were glued to our screens for the better part of the day. Following every single word in the proceedings. I did that too, despite the fact that I abhor politics.

My friend, you see I never voted in the last general election. Don't curse me yet, I have my reasons why I didn't. Which you must have read somewhere already. Either way, I now have a president and deputy president who I adore and love so much. That has nothing to do with politics still, the reason why I hold them as said is because they are the drivers of my great nation Kenya. The land of my great great grandparents. The same nation that harbors many friends who I truly hold dear.

I saw the face my DP was wearing during the proceedings in the ICC today. I didn't like it one bit. I mean, that is my Deputy President right there. Worse, am told they are also planning to do the same to my President! Excuse me, we are more than 40 million Kenyans, who are well experienced at throwing stones without looking at the target, but hardly miss. All the same, we vowed never to exercise that rare, 'infamous' talent we have.

On the same note, I am one person who was not directly affected by the PEV but on the other hand, several of my relatives lost their lives and many other displaced. We all had a share of the ugly events and I know that there is no one who would want the repeat of the same. That clearly puts us as Kenyans on the crossroads when it comes to this ICC issue.

I am not a lawyer to take sides, neither would I expect that from any Kenyan who clearly has no real and solid evidence as to what transpired in the
2007-2008 PEV. Sorry to say, but those who lost their lives are the best witnesses as far as am concerned. Our blessed country still stands and business will run as usual if we dedicate not to take the entire ICC thing far enough.

RTA are becoming part of our normal lives and we are losing more loved ones as the expenses of even laying them to rest is escalating each single day. Things are not becoming any better amidst the confusion of where exactly we should be as a nation. The West can wait with their threats of abandoning us. The last time I checked, they didn't own us in the first place.

It is our responsibility therefore, as a nation, to work towards ensuring that our lives and the lives of those we love run at a rate that we can keep up with. Let those slapping each other do that, those calling others name continue, but unless we maintain the peace we vowed to uphold, love the next person as we pledged, and defend our nation peacefully as we should, the we for sure will all get lost in one way or another.

As we enter this very trying moment, (ICC-which most of you take lightly) I pray that we all get down to our knees, whisper a prayer (Whispers talk VOLUMES) and pray that justice prevails, and most important, we remain united as a country. Whatever happens out of this ICC proceedings, let them not be a reason to hate your brother or sister. Kenya is far much bigger than you and me. So this day and many more to come......................................................................................

.....FORGET THE ICC, GET ON YOUR KNEES AND PRAY FOR OUR COUNTRY!

Be YOU

God created man in his own image, and when He looked at his creation, He was pleased. Amazing how the creator was amazed and satisfied with what He had created, and the creatures find it hard to do the same.

Have you ever wished in your life that it would have been better if you were so and so? That is a yes. Let me save you the burden to answer that question. The truth however is that the best you can be when you want to be someone else is number two. Relax, I don't mean to discourage you in any way. The same applies to those individuals who want to be you, it just can never happen!

Life provides us with a wide selection of choices from which we define our lives. The problem is that life is too generous that quite a number of choices make our lives a living nightmare by wanting to make a complete makeover of what we are and be like different people.

A gazelle may so wish to be a fish in the thought that there are no lions in the sea and ocean. This however is not any better since there are other fish predators in the waters, only that the gazelle has no idea of that.

In life therefore friends, stop coveting a different life than what you have. God has given you the best life that you can have and this comes with adjustments that you can make to becomes the best you want to be. Success is inbuilt rather than imported from external forces. If you want to make your life better, make a better you but not a better somebody else.

How to Live

Life has never been easy,
As you wake up to a new day,
take your first step with confidence friends,
no one knows when the journey will end.
Always be alert, you will learn a lot of things along the way.
Pay attention to everything, there are many traps on the way.
In every encounter, your mind is your best weapon and never doubt your belief but always believe in your doubts.
We should all be in good terms with everybody we meet. Take all the advice, but remember to make decisions yourself.
Listen more and avoid arguments, they may lead to a fight.
If you compare yourself with others, you will never be yourself and instead the best you can get to be is number two.
Face life with caution, one of my best friends always tells me that the world is very tricky.
Always aim high, the sky should be the limit.
Dreams are always good, but achievements do not come easy.
Be honest, other people's sweat is bitter.
Just like a soldier, discipline is a must.
Be flexible so that you can adopt everywhere. Know when to let go, everything must not go your way.
Whatever the situation, justice must prevail. Though common sense is not common, you must know when to forgive.
With every day you face, the nearer you come to the exit and therefore live your life to the fullest each day.

LOVE...

TO MY FRIENDS WHO ARE  SINGLE
Love is like a butterfly.

The more you chase it, the more it eludes you.
But if you just let it fly, It will come to you when you least expect it.
Love can make you happy but often it hurts, but love is only special when you give it to someone who is really worth it. So take your time and choose the best.

TO MY FRIENDS WHO ARE NOT SO SINGLE
Love isn't about becoming somebody else's "perfect person”
It's about finding someone who helps you
Become the best person you can be.

TO MY FRIENDS WHO ARE ENGAGED
The true measure of compatibility is not the years spent together
But how good you are for each other

TO MY FRIENDS WHO ARE MARRIED

Love is not about "it's your fault", but "I'm sorry."
Not "where are you", but "I'm right here for you"
Not "how could you", but "I understand"
Not "I wish you were", but "I'm thankful you are

TO MY FRIENDS WHO ARE HEARTBROKEN
Heartbreaks last as long as you want
and cut as deep as you allow them to go
The challenge is not how to survive heartbreaks
But to learn from them
TO MY FRIENDS WHO ARE NAIVE
How to be in love:
Be consistent but not too persistent,
Share and never be unfair,
Understand and try not to demand,
And get hurt but never keep the pain.

TO MY FRIENDS WHO ARE POSSESSIVE
It breaks your heart to see the one you love
Happy with someone else
But it's more painful to know that the one you love
Is unhappy with you

TO MY FRIENDS WHO ARE AFRAID TO CONFESS
Love hurts when you break up with someone.
It hurts even more when someone breaks up with you.
But love hurts the most:
When the person you love has no idea how you feel about him/her

TO MY FRIENDS WHO ARE STILL HOLDING ON
A sad thing about life is when you meet someone and fall in love, only to find out in the end that it was never meant to be, and that you have wasted years on someone who wasn't worth it.
If that person is not worth it now, it’s not going to be worth it a year or 10 years from now.
Let go...

Behind that Plastic Smile

I stood there with a broken heart, but my face was portraying a different story.
They all waved at me, asking why I was so happy all the time.
Deep inside me, I asked why they never saw my bleeding wounds in my heart.
Life gives you lemon,
Unfortunately everyone else sees lemonade.
We never choose what we want in life,
but at least I know you can determine what others will see in you.

When I wake up in the morning,
I get on my knees asking the Most High to grant me success,
That is a prayer and a wish at  the same time.
When I get out of my house however, it all turns to reality,
The hustle to make those wishes come true.

Life is what you make it, so they say.
But at times it does not give you any options.
You learn to live by the only choice life offers,
Success has never been among the options,
but somehow someway,
you have to make the best come out of you.

A successful person is not the one who has got everything right,
but that one person,
who knows that things are not working out his or her way
but ensures that at the end of the day,
Things look pretty similar to what he wants.

It is all about trying,
Give it your best as you deal with the worst.
Real life is always disguised behind the 'good life' we see.
BEHIND THAT PLASTIC SMILE.....IS THE REAL YOU!

ADULTHOOD

I always thought that at the age of 18, one became an adult. I am not saying that one does not become an adult at that age, at least the law has that provision, but most of you will bear me witness and with experience being the best teacher, you are never an adult until you clock 20.

I come from a family of five and I am the firstborn. To elaborate on what am saying, I was the guinea pig of the family. I had no elder brother or sister to learn from and therefore I had the chance to experiment all the possible trials that my parents had in mind.

I remember accompanying my dad to the bank many times so that he could pay fees for my younger brothers. The long queues, tiring rounds while doing shopping and worst of all non negotiable requests of giving out pocket money. I started thinking that being an adult is solely being punished by the heavy responsibilities one had. This was however challenged on my 18 birthday as I did not have any responsibilities and on the contrary, I was now free to drink, get a license and make my own decisions.

With years slowly crumpling under my fun life, it started to dawn on me that I was actually getting into adulthood but not yet. The confusion of holding onto the past life, denying the present and largely worried about the future started masking me. The decisions I could easily make became projects I had to think hard and plan extensively before making a choice.

"What next with my life now?" I started asking myself everyday when I woke up in the morning. I seemed stuck in the present with the fear of moving forward being my biggest stumbling block. Clocking 18 years wasn't a big achievement after all as far as adulthood is concerned.

Each passing day I see thousands of teenagers living life on the sky after attaining 18 years. I have to admit it feels great, I mean if you don't have an idea what you should be doing, doing anything will come in handy. It is however a phase that will come to give you a tormenting time when you realize that a time is coming when you will be required to be an adult by compulsion.

BECAUSE...

  • Because I tripped and fell on a stone, today I walk cautiously so that it does not happen again.

  • Because of that heartbreak that gave me a free ride to hell and back, I have learnt to love again.

  • Because of that exam paper that I scored the lowest in my class, I have always been motivated to prove myself wrong and score better.

  • Because of that nightmare I had the other day and yet woke up tomorrow safe and sound, I have the assurance that God will always watch over me.

  • Because of that friend who betrayed me, I have learnt to make TRUE friends again.

  • Because my kid brothers look up to me , Giving up is not (And will NEVER be) among my options.

  • Because of that expectation from my parents, I swore never to disappoint them.

  • Because somebody somewhere waits for me to fail, I will never tire to keep them waiting......

And today I urge you my friends: Just because you failed once, don't give up; arise, dust yourself and learn from your mistakes. The remaining part is SUCCESS, you're already done with FAILURE :)

When the worst Matters

We are all human beings and everybody wants to have the best of whatever is on the offer. We seem to get engrossed so much in being comfortable and forget that true happiness comes with proper management of one's weaknesses.
Just like me, and any other normal human being, we have our strengthens and weaknesses. They define us, make us and most important destroy us.

Nurturing the best part of a person is a total failure in making progress. I mean, why would someone invest in something that is already perfect instead of trying to improve whatever that is not good enough. Therefore, when we all want to achieve absolute satisfaction, I would suggest we shift our attention and efforts to weaknesses.

A story is told of two women who were given pots as presents during their marriage ceremonies. The pots were so beautiful and well embossed with their names on the side. One woman after receiving the pot put some water in it and carefully checked whether there was any crack that could leak the pot. Unfortunately, which I personally consider fortunate, she found a small crack near the neck of the pot which was leaking the water from the pot.

The other woman did not bother to check her pot because it was just looking great and she was convinced that nothing would be wrong with the pot.

It happened that the women went to fetch water the following day so that they come and do the usual chores at their houses. The lady whose pot was cracked felt that it would be embarrassing if she said her pot was leaking since the other one had not complained about her pot. The other woman whose pot is assumed to be okay had no idea and so did not mention a word.

After fetching water, the woman with a cracked pot was cautious because she knew that her pot was cracked and so had to carry it with a lot of care so that it does not break completely. The other woman having no idea whether the pot was cracked or not held her pot by the neck and as she was putting it on to her head, the entire pot split open pouring the contents on the woman. The other woman with a lot of care managed to put the pot on to her head and take her water home.

MORAL LESSON: When something or someone is looking just perfect, it is good to check for their weaknesses so that you can pay attention on how to manage them. Otherwise, disappointments always come up as a result of ignoring the state in which people are.

End of Beginning

As my lecturer walks away from then hospital where am attached as a student (M.P Shah Hospital), it starts to dawn on me school is over. I mean over in that I will not be in any classroom again unless I decide to go for masters. This has been my final year in University pursuing a bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science. Assessment is now over and God willing I shall be graduating in December.
I look back to when I first stepped into a classroom back in my rural home in Keroka. The school was known as Masaba Academy. Back then, it was a mere joke telling me to work hard. Life had no purpose at all, except of course the time we spent playing with my friends after school.
As it started getting organized, I would spare saying 'serious', I switched schools and joined a public school that goes by the name Kierira Primary School. This one was a school of the people and I appreciate the fact that it taught me the basic life lessons. Here I met pupils from all angles of life and it was worthy the enrollment.
I usually consider my first class to be in the third school I joined, Eronge Adventist Primary School. The institution that gave me a complete turn around in my entire academic life. When I always thought I was the best, I met those that I needed to learn from. The competition was stiff and by then I was in class five and I knew what it meant to be in position one. Besides my academic life, my spiritual life was also well nurtured and I am glad that I went to that school.
KCPE was fast approaching and that is when I realized that threats play an important role in success. My teachers and parents were

I still look up

We have eyes, but we decide where to look to.
Life gives you many options, but only a few are worth your efforts.
The majority are mere lessons, they simply make us stronger.
Learn from those options that hurt you, but do not always choose them.
When the world gives me every reason to look down; I still look up.

There are times, when your best shot yields worst results.
Times when your best friends, become your stiff competitors.
The little hope you had, turns to be the most painful wound in your heart.
Don't stop there yet, brighter days are coming.
With each passing failure, I still look up.

I have learned one thing, being my personal jury.
Every single step I make, I judge it myself.
This lights up the fire in me, and I have come a long way.
I still hope that one day, I will reward myself by proving the world wrong.
With my few success and many failures, I still look up.

It is difficult getting to the top, when you are living on the bottom.
Remember always to pray, it replenishes the inner strength.
The best foundation success is based on, is a pile of failure.
Giving up should not be an option, it does not make you a winner.
But giving all you can, has the chance to make you a conqueror; so I still look up.
